Cromwell to Dunedin
Cromwell to Dunedin
26 January 2020
We left the rapidly increasing morning temperatures of Cromwell to ride down the length of the Teviot Valley, stopping irregularly to rest the left knee, but only getting off (to an amused roadside audience) at the old gold mining town of Lawrence for lunch.
After lunch we continued towards the main East Coast highway that would take us to Dunedin
As we rode onto the highway we were happy that we only had another 60km to our destination in Dunedin, however this short distance soon became an ordeal.
The wind once more appeared from nowhere, and it appeared that almost every other car heading towards Dunedin was being driven by a crazed impatient failed racing driver who had concern for either the safety of themselves or others.
I was amazed at the number of overtaking manoeuvres made into rapidly approaching oncoming traffic.
Turning off the motorway on the outskirts of Dunedin we rode to our accommodation for the next three nights.
The left knee was also looking forward to two recovery days.
