The Ferry South - Wellington to Picton
The Ferry South - Wellington to Picton
12 January 2020
We were up bright and early, needing to be at the Bluebridge ferry terminal before 7am. As we rode to the terminal we were once again buffeted by strong winds. What would the crossing be like?
The ferry was packed. We got under way on time at 8am. Once in the open seas of the Cook Strait I was surprised to experience that the ride of ferry was no rougher than when in the harbour in Wellington.
Once we had crossed the strait and had entered the interisland channel there was no buffeting whatsoever.
Whoever said that this could be a rough crossing hasn't been on a North Sea or Irish Sea ferry!
